The Athletic’s James McNicholas Reveals Tammy Abraham’s Stance On Joining Arsenal

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is “aware of Arsenal’s interest” and would be “open” to moving to the Emirates this summer, according to The Athletic‘s James McNicholas.

The reliable journalist confirmed a report from another source earlier this week that the Gunners are looking to sign the 23-year-old:

As McNicholas says, though, any bid for Abraham is dependent on the London club selling Alexandre Lacazette and/or Eddie Nketiah.

Although Arsenal would be keen on a loan deal, Chelsea are demanding £40m and the Gunners could only raise those funds through selling one or both of their strikers.

Abraham is a player who is highly rated by manager Mikel Arteta and his recruitment staff. It is believed they see the England international as becoming part of a young nucleus in the first-team squad who could develop together as a group over the coming years.

The forward was Chelsea’s joint top scorer last season, bagging 12 goals in all competitions, despite being frozen out by Thomas Tuchel in the second half of the campaign.
