Sporting Director Makes “Official Offer” Claim As He Reveals Arsenal’s “Interest” In 60M Rated Champions League Star

Shakhtar Donetsk have not received an “official offer” for Mykhaylo Mudryk, according to the club’s sporting director Carlo Nicolini.

While he did confirm that there is “interest” from Arsenal, Nicolini also emphasised that other teams are weighing up moves for the Ukrainian international:

“Arsenal’s interest is there, I can’t deny it. However, today he is called up for the first training camp which runs from January 9 to February 9, then in Warsaw, we will prepare for the next European games. Many clubs have taken an indirect interest in Mudryk, without an official offer. There have been a lot of phone calls.”

Mudryk came to prominence with his performances for Shakhtar in the Champions League group stages this season, with the Gunners, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City having all been mentioned as potential suitors.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side are believed to be the team most likely to make a formal bid for the 21-year-old during the January transfer window.

What may have held Arsenal back from tabling a proposal until now is Shakhtar’s asking price. The Ukrainian side have said publicly that they want €100m (£88m) for the winger. Reports do, though, suggest that they may be open to doing business for around £60m. We shall see how this transfer story develops in the coming weeks.
