Sky Sports Journalist Confirms Arsenal’s Move For £100m Rated Brazilian Is “Possible” With Agent Playing Key Role

Sky Sports Football correspondent Kaveh Solhekol has revealed that Arsenal are in with a chance of signing Barcelona attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho this summer.

The Brazilian international is currently on loan at Bayern Munich but it is expected that the Bundesliga club will not take up their option to buy the 27-year-old. If that turns out to be the case, Barca will try to offload him to other clubs.

Solhekol says that Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian’s links with the Gunners and other English teams could prove pivotal to his future destination:

“Barcelona want more than £100m for a player who will be 28 in the summer. That means there will be little resale value for any interested clubs.”

“Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has good contacts at Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs. A move to those clubs is possible, but Barcelona would have to drop their asking price dramatically or it would have to be a loan with an option to buy deal.”

Arsenal’s finances, especially if they are not in the Champions League, would likely mean a permanent deal would be out of the question, but a loan offer has been suggested as a solution in recent weeks.

Coutinho is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League, but there would certainly still be questions over whether the Gunners would fork out a loan fee and wages if a temporary move was possible for the Brazilian.
