Should Wenger Pursue This AC Milan Striker?

Arsenal might get the chance to sign one of their former targets as AC Milan’s manager admits the Frenchman is free to leave. Here is what Montella said as reported by Metro:

“Niang might leave the club. He’s discussing it with the management. He won’t be called up for the game against Juventus as I thought he would definitely have been distracted.’”

While the Italian boss went ahead and mentioned Niang has some attitude problems, he also pointed out how huge of a talent he is. He is incredibly fast, clinical and versatile. The best thing for Arsenal would be the attacker’s ability to also play left wing not only up front. Even though he started as a no.9 he went ahead and drifted towards the left where his blazing speed helps him leave most of his adversaries behind.

It is true that Welbeck just got back from injury and Arsenal now have a complete attacking line but still, should Wenger pass on this occasion? Niang is quite young and can be developed and nurtured, which would allow the French boss to turn him into the missing piece of the Gunners’ puzzle. He shouldn’t be that expensive and his expectations would not be incredibly high right from the start meaning that he should have the patience to slowly make his way into the starting eleven.

Despite being one of the most promising youngsters in the world at some point, Niang failed to adapt at AC Milan. In 77 appearances, he only scored 12 times and provided 10 assists which is a lot less than expected from him. If given the proper circumstances, the 22-year-old could surely become a top scorer in any domestic competition as his physical and technical abilities impose no boundaries.
