Sagna To End His Collaboration With Arsenal

Sagna To End His Collaboration With Arsenal

After almost two years of negotiations, Sagna looks set to leave Emirates. His departure is not unexpected as the Frenchman constantly complained about the way he is being treated by the club. It seems that his biggest problem was more of a financial issue. Arsenal refused to increase his weekly salary despite the defender’s dedication to the club. According to the Daily Mail, Wenger refused to give Sagna a £5.2million per year salary.

It appears that the Frenchman might still get the chance to end his Arsenal stint in a positive note. He is set to Face Hull City in what might be the Gunners’ best chance to end the decade-long trophy drought. Since signing a deal with Wenger’s side back in 2007, Sagna has never won any awards for the team or personally. Despite that he chose to stay with Arsenal. According to the right-back that type of devotion deserves more respect than the club has shown him over the past two years.

Sagna might follow in Nasri’s footsteps. His fellow compatriot decided to change sides moved to Manchester City where he not only got a big raise but he also won two trophies. All of Arsenal’s direct adversaries for this year’s title seem keen on landing the right-back. Liverpool, City and Chelsea are all lined up to offer the 31 year old at least a three year contract which is already more than the Gunners are willing to offer.

Arsenal’s defender could also opt for a change in scenery as Galatasaray, PSG and Inter have been strongly linked to a possible bid on the Frenchman as well as PL powerhouses Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Even with both the Turks, the French and the Italians being more than capable of meeting his financial demands, it is more than likely he will stay in the UK where his family is already settled, so Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea look favourites which is a shame over a few hundred thousand pounds a month.
