Sagna Set To Join Manchester City After Returning From The World Cup

Sagna has signed a deal with Manchester City, who were the only ones willing to meet the Frenchman’s financial expectations. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal’s former right-back is going to receive an impressive increase in salary after landing a £7million per year contract. Wenger wasn’t willing to pay the Frenchman that much especially with the Gunners policy regarding players over 30. The 31 year old received a one year extension offer from The Gunners but rejected their proposition. Apparently Sagna considered Arsenal’s unwillingness to match his offer as a sign of disrespect for his commitment to the club.

After spending 7 years at the Emirates and after finally winning a trophy this year, Sagna decided to choose money over anything else. Just like Nasri and Clichy, the 31 year old defender left for Manchester where he will start his training after the 1st of July.

Sagna posted a long thank-you note on the internet using istagram in which he thanks Arsenal and also Arsenal fans for everything they’ve done for him. He said now it is time for him to move on and that it is going to be hard to leave behind the people he called his family for almost a decade. Even though his words were a bit out of tune with what happened over the past few months, it was still an emotional statement from him.
