Romano Reveals Arsenal Are “Waiting” For “Final Decision” On 22.6M Transfer

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are waiting for a final decision from Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai about his future.

The Gunners have been scouting the Hungarian international for well over a year and Romano says they will focus their efforts on signing the 20-year-old next month before looking to make another bid for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar:

“They are waiting to understand his final decision. But immediately after, if Szoboszlai signs with another club, they could move again for Aouar.”

Szoboszlai does have a €25m (£22.6m) release clause but the player reportedly must inform Salzburg of his decision by Tuesday 15th December. From there, bids will need to be submitted by Thursday 31st December, before the January transfer window opens.

It will, therefore, won’t be long before we know the midfielder’s final decision and which club he will join in the New Year. In addition to Arsenal, the likes of RB Leipzig, AC Milan, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are all thought to be in contention to sign the player.
