Arsenal Poised To Lose Battle For 18M Rated Playmaker Thanks To Erling Haaland

Arsenal are losing the battle to sign Red Bull Salzburg attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai in January, according to Eurosport.

The Hungarian international is in the sights of five clubs, including the Gunners, Tottenham, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid but it is RB Leipzig who are the favourites to land the 20-year-old.

Eurosport claim that the Bundesliga club are determined not to lose out on Szoboszlai the same way they did for Erling Haaland last January and they are confident of getting a deal over the line for €20m (£18m).

Leipzig and Salzburg are closely connected due to the fact they are both owned by Red Bull, and they were fully expecting to complete a deal for Haaland, like they have done for the likes of Naby Keita and Dayot Upamecano in the past.

However, the Norwegian opted to join German rivals Borussia Dortmund instead and they have, therefore, taken extra effort to ensure Szoboszlai doesn’t slip through the net as well.

Arsenal have been tracking the Hungarian for well over a year but manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the Gunners may need to sell before they buy in January, which would suggest that, currently, Leipzig hold all of the cards.
