Real Madrid Star Reveals Why He Opted To Stay At The Club Despite Reported Arsenal Interest

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has revealed that he intends to stay at the Bernabeu for “many more years.”

The Costa Rican international has been reported as a target for Arsenal, but the shot-stopper signed a one-year extension to his contract with the Spanish club last week.

Explaining the decision to stay at Real despite being second choice to Thibaut Courtois, Navas said:

“I see myself here for many more years. I’ll always fight for my place; no one knows what the future holds – I’m living in the present. This is Madrid and I’ll continue giving everything I’ve got.”

There had been numerous reports in the Spanish media that the Gunners were pursuing Navas, but Unai Emery put an end to the speculation when he ruled out a move for the 32-year-old.

The Arsenal manager has also explained that the London club are only looking at loan deals during the January transfer window. A move for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez is reportedly on the cards but the Catalan side are keen on the player moving permanently this month.

The Gunners have apparently offered to take the 25-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season, with an option to purchase in the summer.
