Ramsey Confirms He Plans To Run Down His Contract With Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey says he expects to run down his contract and leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

The Gunners withdrew a five-year deal reportedly worth £250,000 a week last month. When asked about whether he will stay until the end of his current deal, the Welshman said:

“Of course, yeah. I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season to try and achieve something special.”

“Everything has been going great with the club. We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that’s no longer the case.”

“So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.”

Arsenal may still look to offload Aaron Ramsey for a cut-price deal in January. There seems to be no possibility of the 27-year-old staying with the player seemingly resigned to the situation.

Manager Unai Emery has, however, used the Welsh international regularly in the first team, despite the player’s future being up in the air.

Ramsey started the 2-0 victory over Watford after it was reported that he wouldn’t be signing a new deal. He was, though, a substitute against Fulham last week, but he still came on to score the third goal, and provide an assist, in the 5-1 win at Craven Cottage.

The midfielder has been linked with a host of clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, AC Milan and Juventus.
