Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno’s error handed Everton the three points as the Gunners suffered their seventh home league defeat of the season last night.
The German international’s performances have come under the microscope recently and this latest mistake has led some supporters on Twitter to call for him to be sold:
Please bin him in the sunmer

Another howler by Leno. Wow.

He’s done that too many times this season! Not good enough, just like the rest of the players, bar a select few.

We need a world class keeper. Look at the difference Allison made to Liverpool.

He seems to be on a low morale of late. Seems his mind is somewhere else…..like he wants to leave….

Selling Martinez was a crime. This guy Leno is never strong in front of the goal. With him in the goal Arsenal will never ever win anything.

Said it before, I'll say it again. There is no keeper with a weaker mentality than Leno. Can't handle pressure and can't keep a clear head. Not good enough.

I expected something like this to happen. Smh.

How Leno managed to let the ball slip under him after such a tame cross from Richarlison is anyone’s guess, and there is no doubt that the 29-year-old is very short of confidence at the moment.
Whether manager Mikel Arteta will decide to drop him in favour of Maty Ryan for the crucial Europa League clash against Villarreal on Thursday, it remains to be seen.
It would be a big call considering the Australian has barely played since arriving on loan from Brighton in January, but another costly error from Leno in either leg of the semi-final could prove fatal.
