‘Pay It’ ‘Make It Happen’ Fans Call On Arsenal To Snap Up Key Target Amid Reports That Asking Price Has Dropped To 41M

Lyon are now only demanding €45m (£41m) plus add-ons for midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to reports in England. It was originally believed that the Ligue One side were looking for €60m (£55m).

However, with the French club not in Europe this season, they need to sell in order to balance the books and Arsenal fans on Twitter are hoping that the drop in asking price will encourage the Gunners to make another bid soon:

There are certainly some promising signs on this transfer. Aouar appears open to moving to the Emirates, while it is thought agreeing personal terms won’t be a problem. The main obstacle remains the transfer fee.

It is thought that the proceeds of the sale of Sead Kolasinac to Bayer Leverkusen will help but more funds could be raised by offloading Lucas Torreira to Atletico Madrid. At the moment, the Spanish side are only interested in signing the Uruguayan on loan but Arsenal would much prefer a permanent deal so they can make a substantial offer for Aouar before the transfer deadline.
