Oxlade-Chamberlain Ready For Repeat Of Brazil Heroics

Youngster, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was part of the English team which traveled to Brazil and played the hosts in a pulsating 2-2 clash last summer. He followed in his father’s footsteps who also faced Brazil as a player but he went one better when he scored the second goal for the Three Lions – something which he feels is one of the highlights so far in his young national team career. He has fond memories of that goal, even if his father missed it because he had nodded off, and is hopeful that he can pop up with similar performances and help his nation in this summer’s World Cup, if he is selected.

He also admits that the goal has had such an impression on him, that it has helped him get over the injury he suffered on the opening day of the season. It spurred him on to make a speedy return and boost his chances of making the final cut for the English squad, as reported by the Daily Mail. Speaking before the Denmark game, Oxlade-Chamberlain said, “When you are injured for a long time, looking back on moments can be an inspiration to give yourself the best chance to get back. I did look back on that moment and it helped me push hard to get back.”

“I want to be back in Brazil to have an opportunity to score another.”

The 20-year old has certainly set his sights firmly on the summer’s World Cup and he looks like he has the right stuff to excel for both club and country.
