Neville Slams Ozil Treatment

According to Metro, Manchester United legend Gary Neville has claimed that Mesut Ozil’s poor current form must be handled better by Arsenal, similar to how Cristiano Ronaldo was handled by the Red Devils.

Ozil was bought by Arsene Wenger on deadline day for a fee of £42.5 million, and the German began the season firing on all cylinders, but has lost his touch slightly midway through the campaign. The German international has sustained a hamstring injury that could keep the midfielder out for up to a month. This comes as bad news for both the German national side and Arsenal. With a little over three months to go for the World Cup in Brazil, it is crucial that Ozil plays first team football in order to perform effectively for national coach Joachim Low.

Ronaldo faced similar problems during his move from Sporting Lisbon to United, but the Portuguese was gradually brought into the side, nurturing his talent along the way. There is no doubt about Ozil’s talent on the ball, but Wenger may need to give him a break after the player has been on the pitch for most of the season so far.
