Michael Owen Predicts The Result As Arsenal Face Sheffield United

Michael Owen is expecting Arsenal to come away with a narrow victory when they take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane tomorrow evening.

The Gunners have had a couple of significant setbacks, with the home defeat to Liverpool last weekend, and the draw against Slavia Prague on Thursday night, but Owen feels they should have enough to overcome the Blades:

“Despite turning in a poor performance against Liverpool last weekend, [they] come into this as worthy favourites. The Gunners have improved since the turn of the year, and although they are far from the finished article, I do believe they have enough to take the three points back to the Emirates.”

Owen has gone with a 2-1 win for Arsenal, which is an interesting prediction. Sheffield United have had difficulty scoring goals so it would be a surprise if they get on the scoresheet. However, saying that, the Gunners haven’t kept a clean sheet in 14 games so Owen may have a point.

In terms of securing victory, you would have to think that Mikel Arteta‘s side are the favourites, but the Spaniard may opt for some rotation if he is more focused on the second leg in Prague next week. With his team selection difficult to predict, it’s hard to be 100% certain of an Arsenal win, even though that is the likeliest outcome.
