Michael Owen Expects A “Tight Encounter” As He Predicts The Result Between Arsenal And Liverpool

BT Sport pundit Michael Owen believes tonight’s game between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates will be a closely contested affair despite the gap in the table between the two teams.

The Gunners are coming off the back of a defeat in the North London derby, while their opponents are looking to break the Premier League points record, and Owen thinks the away side could just snatch the three points:

“Arsenal seemed to be heading nicely to a Europa League spot but a draw at home to Leicester followed by a defeat in the North London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has really put that in doubt.”

“Liverpool were held at home to Burnley on Saturday to put an end to their hopes of becoming the first team in Premier League history to win all of their home games in a season.”

“Nonetheless, Liverpool will be looking to add one or two other records to their list of achievements this season and I think they may just edge this tight encounter, 2-1.”

Liverpool did draw at home at the weekend and there has clearly been a drop in their standards since the restart, especially after it was confirmed that they had sealed the league title.

Even so, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta cannot afford to think like that and he will be planning to face the Red machine which has beaten almost every opponent this season.

A solid defensive display is vital and they will need to cut out the mistakes if they are to come away with a result from the game this evening.
