The Gunners have had a difficult season up until now. The lack of form and the endless injury streak affected their game on several occasions which might end up costing them chances at trophies. The thin squad, the large number of games and lack of determination from players like Ozil determined Arsenal’s second captain, Per Mertesacker to reach out to his colleagues once again. According to SkySports, it is not the first time he has urged his teammates to focus and put more effort into their performance. Last winter the German international had the same issue and repeatedly addressed the Gunners publicly in order to encourage them to play better.
Arsenal managed a great win against Dortmund but are far from being happy with their situation. Losing to United and all the other candidates for the title really affected the entire club. The spirits might have calmed down a bit after the Champions League game and will have been helped by the slender win against WBA.
The Gunners are currently 6th in the Premier League and have probably lost the chance to win the title. Chelsea already have a 13 point advantage which is close to impossible to recover considering how great the Blues are playing. Wenger’s side is now fighting to go up in the standings in order to have access to next year’s Champions League. Unfortunately, if they do not start winning against big teams they will have a hard time getting into the top 4 this year.
