Arsenal defender David Luiz has vowed to never give up whilst wearing the Gunners shirt following a poor performance against Liverpool at the weekend.

The Brazilian international was at fault for two goals in the 3-1 defeat, pulling Mohamed Salah’s shirt to concede a penalty, whilst also losing the Egyptian for the third goal. Taking to Instagram yesterday, Luiz said it was a difficult 90 minutes for him:

“Life is tough and football is tough also sometimes!!! But I know one thing, I will never give up!! Was always like that my life … I came here with a goal, and I will fight until the end for that!!! Thank u for the fans, for all the support!!! I will never hide, wining or losing!!!”

Luiz’s heart is certainly in the right place, and supporters will be hoping that his display at Anfield on Saturday will be a rarity during his time with the club.

The 32-year-old has won a Premier League title and the Champions League with Chelsea and does have the experience and ability to improve Arsenal’s defence, but he will have to play better than he did versus the Reds.

Luiz will want to rectify things as soon as possible, and he will have the opportunity to do so in the North London derby against Tottenham next Sunday.
