Arsenal fullback Takehiro Tomiyasu played 45 minutes for the Under 21s in the 3-1 win over Manchester United at the weekend.
The Japanese international appears to have recovered full fitness but he is unlikely to be risked from the start when the Gunners face Leicester City on Saturday.
Emile Smith Rowe has not been seen in action since the early weeks of pre-season due to a groin problem but the club are hopeful that he will be back in full training this week.
Having missed a number of friendlies, the 22-year-old is not expected to be match fit so, like with Tomiyasu, he may only feature on the bench for the clash against the Foxes.
Fabio Vieira’s foot injury remains a concern. He hasn’t taken part in any games so far, either for the senior or youth teams, and that means it is very unlikely that he’ll play any part in the Leicester fixture.
