Latest Arsenal Injury Report Ahead Of The Key Spurs Clash

Arsenal are enjoying a rich vein of form only having lost once so far this season and that was to Jurgen Klopp’s in-form Liverpool side on opening day when the Gunners went down to a 4-3 defeat to the high scoring Reds. For once this season the Arsenal injury list has not grabbed the headlines nearly as much as in previous years. However when you look at it the current infirmary list according to Arsenal Report it is still significant and is just as serious as in recent seasons but for some reason the squad seems to have the ability of replacing the injured and not losing the level of performance, intensity or ability to get results.

Currently, there are 7 first team squad members sidelined with an array of problems. Long-term absentees Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck have not appeared yet this season and are out with a knee injury and a meniscus tear respectively. Both are not expected back until some time in early 2017 and have lost over 3 months and almost 6 months respectively so we can only wish them well in their arduous rehabilitation. Forward Chuba Akpom is also a long-term loss as he is out for 3 months with a back issue and has already lost the best part of 2 months so we may not see him before 2017 either.

Lucas Perez was the recipient of a nastly challenge against Reading a tackle which angered Arsene Wenger. The upshot of the incident is that the unlucky striker is due to be out for 5 weeks with the ankle injury having already been sidelined for just over a week. Arsenal are also without 3 of their most consistent performers at the moment: talisman Santi Cazorla is out for over 2 weeks already with an ankle problem – return is unknown at this point; Nacho Monreal has a nasty hamstring pull which hopefully is not a tear but he could be out for a lot longer than the week missed already and the last of the 3 players is Hector Bellerin who is the latest to get sideliend with the ankle injury he picked up last weekend but there are rumours that he could be fit to face Spurs.

The Arsenal squad seems to be getting players back at the right time to compensate for the inevitable injuries they are getting but more importantly these players are coming in and contributing so the team does not seem to be missing a beat. The importance of the red-hot Ozil, Sanchez and Walcott plus the goal-scoring return of Giroud cannot be under-estimated. But maybe Arsenal are enjoying some better luck this year and even the AirFibr technology that Arsene Wenger had installed at their Colney Training ground is seemingly helping to stem the flow of injuries sustained in training at least (the pitch is supposed to reduce injuries by up to 40%) but injuries in games cannot be controlled its about how you deal with them.

Arsenal play Tottenham in the 1st London Derby of the season on Sunday in the early kick-off at the Emirates in the Barclays Premier League. The reports about the Arsenal team news are likely to be about who is playing as opposed to who is not playing, with Olivier Giroud making a strong case for a start but Alexis Sanchez has been doing so well upfront – a good problem for Arsene Wenger to have.
