Lacazette tipped as the ‘next Ian Wright’

Former Arsenal star Nigel Winterburn believes that club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette has all the credentials to be a star at the club, liking him to that of legend Ian Wright.

Lacazette has had a fine start to life in England with Arsenal, and scored a brace in the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over West Brom on Monday. It takes his goal tally at Arsenal to 4 in the Premier League, showing that he has acclimatised well since arriving at the Emirates.

Nigel Winterburn, a former defender at the Gunners, told Sky Sports News that he likes the look of the Frenchman so far, and has likened him to club legend Ian Wright, whose record of scoring over 200 goals at the club speaks for itself.

Winterburn said: “To come to a new team, like Alvaro Morata at Chelsea, and start producing straight away, is a massive bonus.”

“He’s more Wright than (Thierry) Henry. Thierry wasn’t your classic centre-forward. Henry drifted into wide areas, picked the ball up, unbelievable pace and great close control.”

“He scored from outside the box while Wrighty would produce something in and around the box.”

“You’d never know what he was going to do and Lacazette looks similar. And if he can produce the goals that Wrighty produced, then I think the Arsenal fans will be very, very happy.”
