Arsenal forward Joel Campbell is said to be closing in on a move away from Arsenal this summer and could be set to join up with David Moyes at Real Sociedad.

Campbell has had his chances limited at Arsenal since he had an impressive World Cup. The winger was touted to play a relatively big part in the Arsenal side last season, but failed to make an impact on the squad whatsoever.

Since joining in 2011, the 23-year-old has yet to really have a chance in the Arsenal side which will disappoint fans, however perhaps a move away from north London will benefit the Costa Rican and Spain is a league he is fond of.

Spanish journalist Kike Marin believes that Campbell is on Sociedad’s radar, and that the club have made an offer for the 23-year-old, with Moyes discussing the switch with Wenger over the phone. Arsenal are said to be willing to allow the youngster to leave, and are open to offers.

It will be a piece of disappointing news for Arsenal fans, who will remember signing the relatively unknown star and being eager to watch his progress in the side.

Speaking on ITV last season, Arsenal legend had this to say about Joel Campbell:

“He’s a typical Arsenal player, he picks the ball up in the final third a lot, has a very clean shot and great technical ability. He’s got the vision, and can play a fantastic pass. He has the confidence to take defenders on two-on-one. It will be very interesting to see what happens when he comes back to Arsenal.”

Unfortunately, it just wasn’t to be for the Costa Rican.
