It seems that Joel Campbell might be on his way this upcoming window despite Arsenal’s thin squad. The 22 year old has failed to make an impression on Wenger who hasn’t’ given the Costa Rican too many chances to showcase his talent. According to Metro, Arsenal’s boss insisted that Campbell is part of his plans for the future but failed to mention what his plans are. Rumors have it that the player has grown tired of not being given chances to perform. This season he only made two Premier League appearances which is not that great considering how many matches Arsenal had to play up until now.

The Gunners might use Campbell as part of a trade in order to bring in a new defender. With interest from Olympiakos, Milan and Galatasaray, Wenger could find a way to make the Costa Rican contribute to the team in one way or another.

Wenger has always looked determined to keep Campbell tied to the club. Unfortunately, giving him two chances to play in 4 months may have been a sign that the Frenchman is only being diplomatic about his player. To be fair, he has not yet found his place on the pitch. In the World Cup he performed as a right winger where Arsenal now have both Walcott and Sanchez. They have also transferred Welbeck and have Giroud returning from injury in January. It is kind of clear that if Cambpell hasn’t made a mark on the team up until now, it will be close to impossible for him to shine in 2015.
