Jamie Carragher Delivers His Verdict On Who Will Finish Higher Out Of Arsenal And United

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher does still expect Arsenal to finish above Manchester United in the table this season despite their defeat at Old Trafford at the weekend.

The former Liverpool defender believes that the Gunners are a team who are going places under the management of Mikel Arteta while United are only just starting their journey with Erik ten Hag as head coach:

“I think Arsenal will finish above Man United. Arsenal are a better team than Manchester United right now. Arteta’s three years in, Ten Hag is just starting and he’s gone a little bit more pragmatic because he can’t play the way an Arsenal team is now.”

“I think in two or three years’ time, the way Arsenal performed on Sunday that’s the way United will play, playing from the back all the time, playing through the lines. I admire what Ten Hag has done. So right now, I think Arsenal have the edge”

There is no doubt that Arsenal have won over many pundits with their start to the season. The fact that they are top of the table after six games played is a big positive but the United loss has pulled them back down to earth somewhat.

Some mistakes were made in the 3-1 defeat and it is important that they correct those errors in future matches. You would expect that Arteta’s men should be able to get back to winning ways in the Premier League against Everton this weekend, although the Toffees did hold Liverpool to a goalless draw last time out so they shouldn’t be underestimated.
