Jackson Martinez Back On Arsenal’s Most Wanted List

Jackson Martinez Back On Arsenal’s Most Wanted List

Colombian international, Jackson Martinez has become one of the World Cup’s most recognisable players. His performances have been impressive which is not really that new considering how well he performs while playing for Porto. According to the Daily Mail, the 27 year old striker is back on Wenger’s most-wanted list who is now willing to pay more than he was capable of paying last year.

Porto’s striker has a £33.2milion buy-out clause which will not hold for too much longer if he continues playing this well. Currently one of the most efficient forwards in European football, the Colombian is set to have to manage not just the one offer coming from England as other sides like Man United and Chelsea have also shown interest.

Martinez seems like a third or fourth option for Wenger though. Despite being very efficient for FC Porto, the Colombian might not even reach negotiations with Arsenal who are hoping Benzema will not extend his deal with Real. The chances for that to happen are very low which leaves Balotelli and Mandzukic. Both forwards left Brazil and returned home after two rather weak World Cup experiences. It is expected for Arsenal to make some moves especially with the 11 player exodus planned by Wenger. There will be no excuse for the Frenchman if he misses yet another opportunity to bring in a star striker after last year he did not meet Real and Higuain’s financial expectations which resulted in the Argentinian leaving for Napoli.

Martinez along with his Colombian team-mate James Rodriguez have had an excellent World Cup so far and you can see them knocking out hosts Brazil and extending their time in the spotlight, only increasing the chances of big-money bids coming in for the pair of them to Porto and Monaco respectively. Wenger will likely find the bidding too rich for the both of them which is a shame as either would work well in North London.
