Is Campbell Ready To Shine For Arsenal Next Season?

Arsenal signed the 21-year-old Campbell in 2011 but he is yet to feature for them having been loaned out on three separate occasions to Lorient, Real Betis and Olympiakos last year.

He enjoyed a fine campaign last season with Olympiakos, and even scored a goal against Manchester United in the Champions League knockout stages. He has stepped up a notch with Costa Rica in the World Cup so far, and was particularly impressive as Costa Rica beat Uruguay 3-1 few days ago and at the time of writing he is leading his side to a 1-0 lead over Italy in their 2nd Group match.

Wenger has been impressed with the forward and has already confirmed that Campbell will report for pre-season training with the Gunners in the summer.

Campbell’s father reckons his son has the ability to shine at Arsenal next season. According to the Daily Mail, he said, “I expect and want to make it known that I have told him this has to be the game for him. When he played against Manchester United I told him that it had to be the game to shine, to show the world what he can do.”

“He has the football to show in England and this is the time for him to prove it to everybody. I have told him this and that is what he is going to do. What he did against Uruguay, it was incredible. I always thought when he was growing up that he would be a great player. I just tried to support him and give him all he needs. He is looking forward to going to the Premier League.”

So it looks like we will be seeing more of Campbell in this World Cup in the knockout stages and quite likely in the Premier League next season.
