Arsenal’s Head of Football Raul Sanllehi has “suggested” that the Gunners will not be making significant moves in the transfer market when the window reopens, according to the Evening Standard.
In a meeting with club employees, co-hosted by CEO Vinai Venkatesham, Sanllehi reportedly said that there will be no expensive purchases this summer in light of the ongoing financial challenges caused by the global health crisis.
Fans on Twitter are unsurprisingly not too happy about the report:
Is anyone surprised?

But if we can manage to keep our experienced players, Why not accept this statement and hope that we bring in young & cheap?
Arteta can be the right man to get the Best out of youngsters…— Oscar Steen Lundgren (@OscarSLundgren) April 30, 2020
You had to be a special kind of deluded to think otherwise lol. No club is dropping bank on new players!

We will never be the same until our owners spend money from their pocket. We’re going to slide further and further at this rate. It’s sad to be a fan atm.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a bid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, but with a release clause of €50m (£44m), a move for the Ghanaian now appears to be very unlikely.
The London club were also said to be looking at a number of centre-backs, including the likes of Reims’ Axel Disasi and Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Nunez but it seems as though moves will be limited to free transfers, loans and swap deals.
