“I Want To Play for Arsenal” 19 Year Old Reveals His Next Ambition After Being Called Up By His Country

Besiktas left-back Ridvan Yilmaz has revealed he wants to play for Arsenal if he gets the opportunity in the future.

The 19-year-old has just helped his club side to the Turkish Super Lig title at the weekend, after finishing above Fenerbahce on goal difference. It was then confirmed that the fullback had been named in Turkey’s squad for the European Championships, which led him to say:

“I learned on the live broadcast that I was selected for the National Team,” Yilmaz said. “It was a dream for me to be selected for the National Team and it has come true. I want to leave Beşiktaş by making money. My heart is in favour of England. I want to play for Arsenal, the Premier League team.”

Yilmaz’s rise has been pretty rapid, having only made his senior debut in the Turkish Cup last season. It must be said, he is still not a regular starter for Besiktas, having only made 21 appearances this campaign, but it was still enough for Turkey boss Senol Gunes to call him up, despite the defender having never received a cap before.

From an Arsenal perspective, the club will be looking for a backup option to Kieran Tierney in the summer, although it is believed they are competing with Manchester City to sign Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand on a free transfer at the moment.
