Arsenal accepted a £5m offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr for Mesut Ozil only for the player to reject the move, according to reports.
It is believed that the former German international would have been given a substantial weekly wage, but the midfielder seems determined to see out the final year of his contract at the Emirates.
There were some supporters on Twitter who have defended Ozil’s stance, saying that he has been treated poorly by the club who are trying to force him out, but most fans are just frustrated that he has decided to stay put, knowing full well he won’t play:
Seems he’s lost his desire to play. Rare any athlete of his level would choose to sit over playing their final years. Retired already.

It's personal now…deeply personal. Both sides just want to hurt the other one. No hope for a compromise in sight!

Why should he accept that kind of offer when he's earning 350k without doing anything.

Perhaps we will only find what really has gone between Ozil and Arsenal when the German finally leaves at the end of the season. At the beginning of his reign, manager Mikel Arteta was very open to keeping the 31-year-old, having started him in his first ten league games in charge. However, he has fallen out of the first-team picture since lockdown and has not played since early March.
