Arsenal have decided against signing another goalkeeper when the transfer window opens due to the displays of Emi Martinez, according to reports in the UK.
The Argentinian international has filled in ably since number one Bernd Leno picked up a knee injury. Supporters on Twitter have been praising the 27-year-old’s performances:
Hes been brilliant

Never thought I’d say this but this guy is giving Leno a run for his money for first choice keeper.

Martinez has not put a foot wrong since stepping into the fray. He is clearly very keen to take his opportunity with both hands after having to wait a very long time to get a run in the first team.
The shot-stopper is actually the club’s longest-serving player, having joined the club’s academy from Independiente in 2010.
Since then, Martinez has been on six separate loan spells away from the Emirates. However, after Petr Cech’s retirement last summer, he became Arsenal’s backup keeper and he has slowly grown in stature with good performances in the Europa League and cup competitions.
It will be interesting to see whether he can keep his form until the end of the season and challenge Leno for the number one spot.
