Guardiola Plans Wilshere Raid

After being on a sabbatical for the entire season, former Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola, is set to take over from Jupp Heynckes at the Allianz Arena for next season. However, he may face a tough task replicating Heynckes’ success this season, as the 68-year-old could lead Bayern to a first-ever treble in German football history.

The German club wrapped up the Bundesliga in record time, and are set to play in two finals in the next three weeks – the Champions League final and the DFB Pokal final, both against German opposition.

If Bayern do indeed win the treble, it will be some achievement for Guardiola to topple that feat. The 42-year-old is not new to winning trebles though, having won 14 trophies in four hugely successful seasons at Camp Nou, including a treble in his very first season at the club.

The first move planned by Guardiola in order for Bayern to continue their success is dipping in the transfer market to look to strengthen a team already consisting of world-beaters. He has reportedly eyed a list of potential transfer targets, which have included the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robert Lewandowski and Luis Suarez.

However, according to Metro, it seems that Guardiola is now very interested in Arsenal’s talented playmaker, Jack Wilshere. He has previously acquired former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas at Barcelona, and incredibly it looks like now he wants to bring in another Gunners midfielder in the form of talisman Wilshere.

The England international has recently signed a new long-term contract at the club, but that will not deter Guardiola, who is keen to stamp his own authority at the Allianz Arena next season.

The Bundesliga Champions will reportedly enquire about the highly-rated midfielder once the season draws to a close, irrespective of whether Arsenal finish in the Champions League places or not. The report states that Guardiola is willing to test Wenger’s resolve to keep hold of Wilshere at the Emirates Stadium.

The departure of Wilshere may seem unlikely, but with a lack of trophies at Arsenal, coupled with Bayern’s continued dominance domestically and continentally, could he possibly be tempted to join the Guardiola revolution at Bayern Munich next season?
