Arsenal technical director Edu has been in contact with Lyon’s sporting director Juninho about the prospect of signing Houssem Aouar, according to reports in England.
Lyon are believed to value the midfielder at €50m (£45m) but Edu is thought to have suggested a swap deal involving cash and outcast Matteo Guendouzi going the other way. Supporters on Twitter are excited by the prospect of the Gunners signing the Lyon star:
Good grief this would be amazing

If we sign him I will be so gassed. Imagine our midfield options if we get him & Partey and keep Ceballos

But the fact that City are in make it hard for us to get him.

It’s probably wise for fans not to get their hopes up too soon. Manchester City have also enquired about Aouar, while the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keen on snapping up the 22-year-old.
Edu does know Juninho well following their time together with the Brazilian national team and it will be hoped this personal connection could be used in order to finalise a deal, which would be a massive coup for Arsenal. Talks are expected to continue about the transfer soon.
