Stopping De Bruyne

De Bruyne

The Belgian midfield maestro loves to play in the half-spaces, between the gaps in the lines. It allows him time on the ball to pick out a pass or a devastating cross.

Arteta will be very aware of this, and he will want his team to be as compact as possible to prevent De Bruyne from getting any space. Granit Xhaka will need to be the disruptor in that area of the pitch, while Arteta may opt for Kieran Tierney or Sead Kolasinac rather than Bukayo Saka as they are more defensively minded at left-back where the City star is most dangerous.
