‘Following His Situation Closely’ – Report Claims Arsenal And City Are Ready To Battle It Out For Italian Wonderkid

Arsenal and Manchester City are keeping tabs on Leeds winger Wilfried Gnonto, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claims the two Premier League teams are “following his situation closely” after Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.

Gnonto has performed well since arriving in England from FC Zurich for only £4m, scoring four goals and providing four assists in 28 appearances.

At just 19 years of age, the Italian is thought to have a lot of potential and it looks as if the Gunners may be considering whether to bring him to the Emirates this summer.

Why are Arsenal interested in Gnonto?

The Gunners are still believed to be in the market for a winger, despite having snapped up Leandro Trossard from Brighton during the January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly keeping an eye on the likes of Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby and Flamengo’s Matheus Franca but Gnonto could be seen as a cheaper alternative.

It is believed that the club are focused on signing players in defence and midfield so it could free up funds for other targets if they can recruit a talented young winger for a relatively small fee.
