Fabianski Still Resolved To Quit Arsenal

It is more or less certain now that Arsenal will have to prepare themselves for the loss of Lucasz Fabianski and will have to draft in a replacement this summer after the goalkeeper rejected a new contract offer from the Gunners. It is believed that they offered him a fresh deal worth a weekly salary of £50,000 but this has not swayed his decision to quit the club, as he seeks regular first-team football elsewhere.

The 28-year old has played second fiddle during a major chunk of his stay at the Emirates Stadium, first to Manuel Almunia and now to his Polish compatriot Wojciech Szczesny. Despite his heroics in the FA Cup against Everton and against Bayern Munich last week, he still had to make way for Szczesny for the North London derby against Tottenham this past Sunday.

Fabianski is aware that he will not be first-choice while he is at Arsenal, and no amount of money can compensate him for the lack of action between the sticks. Thus he is looking for a fresh challenge elsewhere, and has a list of suitors vying for his signature. The Spanish duo of Valencia and Sevilla, German outfit Schalke and the English trio of Newcastle, Swansea and Cardiff are all monitoring this situation, at The Telegraph reports.

It is understood that Fabianski’s first choice would be to move to another Premiership side, and that would give hope to the likes of Newcastle, who are themselves bracing themselves for a possible loss of Tim Krul. Could Fabianski be the one to replace him?
