Di Marzio Provides New Update On Arsenal’s Chances Of Signing 17.4M Bundesliga Ace In January

Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has poured cold water on speculation linking Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Jesper Lindstrom with a move to Arsenal during the January transfer window.

The Gunners were credited with an interest in the Danish international last month, along with the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Roma, Juventus and AC Milan, but Di Marzio says Frankfurt won’t sell the player before the end of the season:

“He is a very good player but there is no news at the moment. The Bundesliga clubs are very structured and do not want to sell their players in January. And they really try to get maximum price for their players so I don’t think he will move to another club before the summer.”

Lindstrom’s asking price was reportedly €20m (£17.4m) but it appears that Frankfurt will be looking to maximise their return on him next summer instead. They will likely be looking to cash in on the midfielder’s good form.

The 22-year-old has had a decent start to the campaign, having scored five goals in 15 appearances. He was particularly impressive in Frankfurt’s 5-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, where he got on the scoresheet and provided an assist.

Lindstrom has already spoken out on the prospect of joining the Gunners, stating it would be “great” to play in the “biggest league in the world” so it seems Mikel Arteta’s side’s main obstacle will be persuading Frankfurt to sell up.
