It looks like Arsenal will not be signing their second Real Madrid player this season. French international Karim Benzema will not be leaving the Spanish side until the end of the season unless Ancelotti lands Liverpool’s most efficient striker, Luis Suarez. After losing Higuain to Napoli, the Italian manager is now depending on Benzema to play the role of the main striker. Without any other option to fill in that spot, the Frenchman looks set to stay at Madrid.
Unfortunately for Wenger who expressed his intention to try and reach an agreement for the 25 year old, a winter move is out of the question. Negotiations have been postponed at least until the summer. This puts Arsenal’s boss in a predicament especially because the lack of available quality strikers. Benzema would have been an excellent fit for the Gunners who have been trying to bring in someone to compete with Giroud even since the beginning of the season. Unfortunately for them, Bendtner has been diasappointing despite showing some recent glimpses of form, leaving Wenger with no true scorer besides the French international.
The only way Benzema could leave the Bernabeu is if Real can sort out a mega-deal to buy Suarez. The Uruguayan’s situation is a little uncertain with no-one knowing what his contract with Liverpool actually stipulates. There have been some rumors that the club is obligated to let him leave despite being under contract, if the offer exceeds a certain amount. That is not an actual buy-out clause but it is pretty similar.
It is hard to believe though Liverpool will make such a foolish move. They are currently 2nd in the Premier League and have a great chance to catch up to Arsenal who have to face Chelsea in their next game. If Suarez left, the other Premier League clubs would let out a huge collective sigh of relief but the Uruguyan hitman seems very happy, is banging the goals in for fun and Liverpool are looking more and more like a Champions League team so clearly Luis Suarez is gonna remain in Liverpool at least until the end of the season and quite likely beyond that so Arsenal will have to look elsewhere is would seem for a striker as both Benzema and Suarez look increasingly impossible signings to make.
