Colombia’s Red-Hot Striker Wants To Join Arsenal- Get Him Signed Already

It is no secret that Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for a striker with the Gunners woefully short of options up front. Olivier Giroud suffered from burnout last season as he was the only striker Wenger preferred.

Nicklas Bendtner has already left the club and Yaya Sanogo is not yet ready to make the leap to be Arsenal’s number one striker next season. Naturally, Wenger is looking to add some depth in that department but his search may have just ended with Jackson Martinez open to a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger is reportedly a fan of the 27-year-old and even tried to buy him during the January transfer window. It seems a perfect match with both parties wanting to do business. However, a fee will have to be agreed with Porto who want £35 million for Martinez, who has scored 60 goals in 91 appearances for the Portuguese club.

According to the Express, Martinez said, “I know that there have been discussions, but still no agreements. My agent is taking care of my future, right now I’m at the World Cup and only after the World Cup I’ll evaluate proposals. As a child I cheered for Arsenal, they play a game that suits me. If I had the occasion to play there, I would say yes.”

You would imagine that it must only be time before Martinez will become an Arsenal player after such a statement but probability, logic and inevitability rarely come into tranfers so we can only wait and see what happens with Mr Wenger who has certainly shown he dances to the beat of his own transfer window tune but Jackson Martinez is at least making it clear that he wants to ‘dance’ with Arsenal!
