Club Slap Eye Watering 85M Asking Price On Striker As 3 PL Teams (Including Arsenal) Line Up Bids

Everton will ask clubs to pay £85m for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to The Mirror journalist David Maddock.

The figure is the amount they earned from the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United and Maddock believes this is likely to be the “starting point” for any negotiations involving Calvert-Lewin.

Arsenal are one of three teams that have been “expressing an interest” in the striker, along with United and Newcastle, but it is believed that the Magpies are the ones closest to making a formal offer for the 25-year-old.

The club’s new sporting director Dan Ashworth has earmarked Calvert-Lewin as the perfect player to spearhead the attack for Eddie Howe’s side.

Everton are keen to get as much as they can for the England international, but the Toffees are under pressure to sell due to Financial Fairplay rules and the loss of investment from minority shareholder Alisher Usmanov.

If Newcastle do pay over the odds for Calvert-Lewin, though, it’s unlikely that Arsenal would match their offer, considering the forward’s chequered injury record.
