Chelsea Lead Nine Clubs As Arsenal Face Battle To Keep Teenage Star At The Club

Arsenal could lose young striker Khayon Edwards this summer, according to reports in the English media.

The 18-year-old’s scholarship deal expires at the end of the season and he is stalling on signing his first professional contract with the Gunners.

A number of teams in the Premier League and on the continent are keeping close tabs on Edwards’ situation, in the event he does decide to leave the Hale End academy.

Chelsea are among five English clubs who are keen on the teenager, along with Brighton, Southampton, Newcastle and Leeds, while Bundesliga sides Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Monchengladbach, Hertha Berlin and RB Leipzig are also in the frame.

Edwards has been very prolific for the Under 18s this campaign, scoring nine goals in only 11 league matches. His form led to him getting his chance for the Under 23s in the EFL Trophy back in October.

The forward played a crucial role after coming on for the final 15 minutes against Newport County, providing the assist for Charles Sagoe Jnr’s stoppage-time winner.
