Cazorla Reveals What He Said To Arsenal About Pursuing £87m Rated Duo

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has warned the Gunners off making moves for Villarreal defender Pau Torres and winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Asked in a recent interview whether he was aware of interest from England in the pair, Cazorla revealed he had been in contact with people at Arsenal, although he said he didn’t believe the two players are ready to make the step up to the Premier League at this point in time:

“Yes, friends from Arsenal especially. They ask me about them and think they can make the jump to the Premier League tomorrow. It’s good that great teams are interested in young players from Villarreal, but for the moment I tell them to leave them alone here.”

Torres, in particular, has been linked with Manchester City in recent months, and it would not be a surprise if Mikel Arteta has been following the €45m (£37m) rated defender’s progress for quite a while.

In terms of Chukwueze, the Nigerian winger reportedly has a €60m (£50m) release clause, with the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and City all taking a keen interest in the player.

Arsenal’s chances of signing the pair are probably quite slim at the moment, but Cazorla’s comments do shine a light on what type of players Arteta wants to bring in to the club.
