Arsenal legend has praised the influence that head coach Mikel Arteta has had on the Gunners squad during his short spell in charge of the club.

The TV pundit feels three players in particular: Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi have already benefited from working under the Spaniard:

“There has been a change in organisation, closing down, intensity with the guys. People like Torreira, Xhaka – he’s turned Xhaka right around.”

“He’s got something out of Mustafi – Mustafi played well against Burnley the other day. Things are happening, but it’s going to take its time.”

Whether Arteta will have a lasting impact on the three players’ games, we shall have to wait and see. Torreira had lost confidence before the arrival of Arteta but he has rediscovered his form in recent weeks.

The jury is still very much out on whether the improvement in Xhaka and Mustafi will be long-lasting. Certainly, both players have performed well in recent games, but their career records do suggest that they may not be capable of consistently high-performance levels.

In any case, Wright is correct to point out that Arteta is having a positive influence, and it is hoped that will translate to results on the pitch very soon.
