Carragher Pinpoints Key Problem Under Emery That Could Cost Arsenal Boss His Job

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher believes Unai Emery has caused confusion among the Arsenal players due to his tactics and selection decisions this season.

The former Liverpool defender highlighted the number of changes the Spaniard has made to his starting line ups and even during matches to back up his point:

“If I think of Emery and Arsenal, and how they play, they score goals and concede goals. They play out from the back and almost concede goals.”

“He’s used more players than anyone. He’s made more changes at half-time or before half-time than anyone. That’s something you’d expect a lower team to be doing. I’m not quite sure what is really going on there, and that’s why the confusion is being created.”

Rumours coming out of the club do suggest that some of the Arsenal players have been left confused by some of Emery’s decisions this campaign.

The Gunners have struggled to find an identity since the arrival of the former PSG manager eighteen months ago, and it would be hard to discern a distinctive style of play that he has tried to employ.

That lack of identity, and “confusion” as Carragher has described it, is one of the key reasons for the unrest among supporters, as well as results that have left Arsenal eight points off the top four after just 13 games.
