BBC pundit Alan Shearer believes Arsenal have made a good decision to sign Jorginho from Chelsea.

The Italian international did not have the best of debuts after coming on in the 1-0 defeat to Everton at the weekend, but Shearer claims the midfielder’s experience will help the Gunners a great deal:

“I really do like the Jorginho signing. He will bring a wealth of experience. How to win. How to get over the line.There are still going to be big questions and big times they will have to navigate over the coming months. Who better to get than a guy that has been there and done it at every level.”

Jorginho is a very different player to Thomas Partey, so the fact that the Italian replaced Arsenal’s number 5 as a substitute at Goodison Park was a surprising decision.

He didn’t really make much of an impact, with Mikel Arteta’s side chasing the game in the final half-hour.

There is no doubt that Jorginho does bring a lot to the table. He possesses leadership qualities and an excellent passing range, but whether he suits the Gunners’ style of play is another matter.

Of course, it’s not fair to judge the 31-year-old on the 30+ minutes we saw of him on Saturday and it will be hoped that he can be a positive influence going forward.
