Arsenal are weighing up a bid for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze, according to Fichajes.net.

The Spanish rumour mongers claim that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has the Nigerian international “in his sights” as he looks to reinforce his options out wide.

Nicolas Pepe was allowed to leave the Emirates on loan back in August and it has meant that there is not a lot of cover for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in the first-team squad.

Fichajes report that Chukwueze could be available for around €40m (£35m), with the player’s contract set to expire in 2024, although it seems that a deal is more likely to happen in the summer than when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 23-year-old is blessed with a lot of pace, but it’s fair to say that he doesn’t always have an end product. So far this season, he has scored three goals and provided four assists in 20 appearances for Villarreal.
