Arsenal Youngster Sent On Loan

Arsenal winger Wellington Silva has joined Bolton on a season-long loan. The Brazilian U21 international has made the move to the Championship in the hope that he can break into the Arsenal team come next season. The attacking midfielder has spent much of his time at Arsenal on loan, mostly in Spain with Almeria, Real Murcia, Levante, Alcoyano and SD Ponferradina.

Silva joined Arsenal from Fluminense in January 2010 and previously played alongside Barcelona star Neymar and Liverpool’s Philippe Countinho for Brazil during the U17 World Cup.

Silva joined Fluminense’s youth setup in 2004, from neighbours Portuguesa. In December 2008 he was invited to a trial period at Arsenal, and scored four goals in a single match against Norwich with the Academy side. He returned to Brazil, however, and was assigned back to the youth setup at Flu. In 2009 Silva agreed a deal with Arsenal, for a £3.5 million fee. The deal was delayed until 2011 due to his age. Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the 23-year-old, and believes that Bolton will be surprised by his quality.

“He’s a creative, tricky, quick player.” Wenger told Arsenal.com.

“He’s absolutely stunning to watch and I believe Bolton will be surprised by his quality.”

“I believe he will do extremely well because he has gained a lot of experience in Spain, he has come back to England and I am confident he will have a big impact in the Championship.”
