Arsenal Will Have To Spend Big For Bony

Arsenal are going to have to spend a big chunk of their transfer kitty in the summer if they want to stand any chance of securing the signature of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City, according to a report in talkSPORT.

The Gunners stand a chance of ending their nearly decade long wait for a trophy as they face Hull City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Sunday. Arsene Wenger will have to motivate the players after a lacklustre end to the season that saw them only just securing a UEFA Champions League spot after leading the League for a league high 128 days. The Barclays Premier League title race drifted away from Arsenal through the Christmas period, and they never recovered from the slump in form.

Bony has been receiving plaudits from pundits and scouts in England for his performances, and the prolific striker has been scoring at a good rate. The 25-year old was signed by the Welsh side for a club record £12 million from Vitesse, and the move had been fruitful for both sides. In a total of 48 matches in all competitions, Bony has scored 25 goals, becoming the club’s top scorer this season and meaning that even though last season’s top scorer Michu was injured for much of the season, he was hardly missed particularly in the 2nd half of the season where Bony came to the fore and was in a rich vein of form. Swansea, however, have intimated that a big money offer could be considered for the in form Ivorian as the South Wales club have shown the ability to sign good replacements and not stand in the way of the ambitions of their top players like for example Joe Allen and his move to Liverpool.
