Atlanta United president Darren Eales has said that attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron won’t be leaving the MLS club for less than £30m during the January transfer window.
Speaking about the Paraguayan international’s future, Eales even compared the 24-year-old to Real Madrid star Gareth Bale:
“I will only get out of bed when it starts with a 3! That is the sort of level it has to be for a player of his quality.”
“He’s that good? Yes, he’s great really. I am not surprised there is interest from top clubs. He has got great ability. He is faster with the ball than without. he reminds me a lot of Gareth Bale in that respect, from when I was at Spurs.”
The likes of Newcastle United and West Ham have also been linked with a move for Almiron in recent months but it was also confirmed that Atlanta
There has been speculation that the Paraguayan could be available for a fee of around £15m, but Eales described such a valuation as “derisory” and it seems that the player won’t be moving anywhere unless a club can offer at least double that amount.
Almiron was integral to Atlanta winning the MLS Cup in just their second year in the league. The midfielder made 37 appearances in total, scoring 13 goals and contributing 13 assists.
