Arsenal Vying With United For Dutch Ace Who Has Scored 7 Goals And Contributed 9 Assists This Season

Arsenal are weighing up a move for Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to reports in the UK.

The Dutchman has been in excellent form this campaign, having scored seven times and provided nine assists in 35 appearances.

It is believed that the Gunners are keen on strengthening their options on the right-hand side of defence. Takehiro Tomiyasu‘s ongoing fitness problems mean they are looking to offer Ben White more support.

Frimpong actually started out life in Manchester City’s academy before he made the switch to Celtic. After eighteen months in Scotland, he was snapped up by Leverkusen for £11.5m.

Manchester United are also believed to be keeping tabs on the 22-year-old so Arsenal won’t have a clear run to secure his signature if they make an offer this summer.

It should be pointed out that he is more of a wingback than a fullback, and Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman has said that he left him out of his squad this week as he has reservations about his defending. We shall see if that deters the Gunners from pursuing the player.
