Arsenal Unable To Match Last Year’s Away Result Against Bayern

The Gunners managed a 1-1 draw against Bayern who dominated the entire game from top to bottom. Wenger’s squad problems proved to be too much even for the Frenchman who is well-known for his ability to work around any situation no matter how complicated.

Arsenal looked a bit lost without Wilshere and Ramsey who seem to have a great influence on Ozil’s game. Without them, the German international is almost non-existent. His presence was barely felt on Allianz Arena which determined Wenger to send in 33 year old Thomas Rosicky.

The game had few important moments other than the two goals which were 2 minutes apart. Schweinsteiger got the opener after some impressive skills and a perfect assist from Ribery. Podolski quickly reacted and fired the ball right past Neuer despite shooting from a very tough angle.

Arsenal did not look like a team willing to go all in right from the start. They began the game with little confidence and accepted Bayern’s domination who could have scored on several occasions.

Wenger might lose yet another important player, as Oxlade-Chamberlain was caught limping after a short sprint during the second part of the game. Despite being one of the North London team’s most dangerous players he was replaced because of what is probably another injury the Gunners will have to deal with.

The Germans were unlucky considering Muller’s missed penalty and Mandzukic’s poor ball control in front of goal. The Gunners put some pressure on Bayern during the last few minutes of the game but it all looked a bit too little too late. At times, Arsenal looked helpless against reigning champions Bayern Munich who now go through to the next round of the Champions League.
